Once you've accepted the license agreement, i Tunes will begin downloading the new i OS update.You'll see a message telling you that the software is downloading in the middle of the i Tunes window, under the heading "Version."On the left side of the screen, you'll also see rotating arrows and a number next to the "Downloads" menu item.Apple delivers its i Phone software updates through i Tunes, so the first thing you should do is make sure you have the most recent version of i Tunes running on your computer.To update i Tunes, go to the "Help" menu, and select "Check for updates."If i Tunes says you have the most recent version, you're all set to move on to Step Two.i Tunes will display a progress bar that says "Updating i OS". After the software has been installed, you'll see a message that says "Verifying updated software." This process takes just a few minutes; do not close i Tunes or disconnect your phone while it's running.
This happens quickly, and you may not even notice it.If you see a button that says "Check for Update," that means i Tunes has not automatically found a newer version of the i OS software.Click this to manually check for an update; if your i Phone is already running the most current version, you'll see a pop up message saying "This version of i OS (x.x.x)* is the current version." That means no updated software is available.* = version of the software.Once the i Tunes update has downloaded, it will begin installing itself automatically.When the installation is complete, you may need to restart your computer in order to run the new version of i Tunes.
